This role will involve:
- To be responsible for the planning , organising and tendering of transport for elderly clients and those of all ages who are vulnerable, have social, behavioural or emotional difficulties on behalf of Adults and Children’s Services using either internal or external transport providers to day centres and educational establishments.
- To manage up to 35 members of in-house transport staff, including holding weekly staff meetings, conducting sickness reviews, undertaking PDR’s, assessing training requirements, driver licence checking and managing holiday entitlement and conducting disciplinary investigations all of which must be undertaken in line with the relevant policies.
- To have day to day responsibility for recording all expenditure, across in-house and external transport providers ensuring all tendering is undertaken in line with policy and meets the standards required by internal audit.
- To undertake pre planned and random checks of sites and transport providers to ensure activities are being undertaken in line with Health and Safety legislation and the conditions within the Transport Contract.
- To ensure drivers are undertaking their daily checks in line with DVSA legislation and the defect reporting procedure is being adhered to at all times.
- To monitor external transport providers to ensure transport is being undertaken in line with the conditions of the transport contract documenting any failures and presenting reports to the Client Transport Delivery Team Leader
