Planning Compliance Officer Full Time Temporary

Planning Compliance Officer needed in Tower Hamlets £17.95 per hr ref:454065

This role will involve:

• To provide a high quality specialised Planning Compliance service that meets the needs of Tower Hamlets’ multi-cultural communities, including:
• the proper and timely investigation of breaches of planning control including site surveys, the obtaining of evidence of fact from witnesses (including under caution) and other sources;
• the proper and timely appraisal, investigation and evaluation of breaches of planning control;
• identifying remedies for any breach speedily (including liaising with other regulatory services in the client and with our partners);
• the formulation of recommendations for a decision on breaches of planning control.
• justification of action promoted in order to ensure that the decisions reached are in accordance with law, good practice, planning policies and government advice, and are reasonable and sustainable on appeal or through the courts
• contributing professionally, as required and under guidance, to the enforcement of planning obligation agreements and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) payments;
• – contributing professionally, as required and under guidance, to the enforcement of Heritage and Conservation planning matters;
• To participate in promoting the services of the Directorate, building working relationships at a senior level with Government, other Local Authorities and agencies, business and with the local community.
• Assist and support the development of policy and operational delivery protocols for the services provided to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives.
• To provide pre-application advice and deal with subsequent planning applications arising from regularising breaches of planning control.

Ideally candidates will have:

• First degree or equivalent (e.g. a BA in geography) that would allow entry onto RTPI accredited postgraduate planning degree
• Planning experience
