Transition Accountant

Transition Accountant needed to work hybrid Paying  £45,091 per annum ref 5294840

Full time hours on a fixed term 6 month contract

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver all finance-related activities required for go‑live
• Design, configure, test, and embed financial systems, processes, controls, and governance arrangements
• Ensure robust financial reporting and budget management frameworks are in place
• Support finance system changes and transition activities associated with organisational restructure
• Lead finance input into cutover planning and early post‑go‑live stabilisation
• Work collaboratively across services and with multiple stakeholders to deliver a successful transition
• Operate at pace within a fixed‑term, delivery‑focused environment

Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Essential)

• CCAB‑qualified accountant or equivalent experience
• Strong experience in financial accounting within local government, housing, ALMO, or a similar public sector environment
• Proven experience supporting finance system changes, restructures, or organisational transitions
• Strong technical understanding of:
  • Chart of accounts design
  • Reconciliations
  • Financial controls
  • Financial reporting
• Experience of working across complex stakeholder environments and organisational boundaries
• Ability to work at pace in a time‑limited, outcomes‑focused role
