Key Responsibilities
- Process and assess applications for licences, permits, registrations and consents within designated timescales.
- Maintain accurate licensing records and databases.
- Provide technical advice and guidance on licensing legislation, procedures and council policies.
- Prepare reports, correspondence and supporting documentation for licensing hearings and committees.
- Liaise with external agencies including the Police, Fire Service, Environmental Health, Planning and other regulatory bodies.
- Assist in the investigation of licensing-related complaints and compliance issues.
- Support enforcement activity by gathering information, maintaining records and preparing evidence where required.
- Ensure that all licensing activities comply with relevant legislation including:
- Licensing Act 2003
- Gambling Act 2005
- Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976
- Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing legislation
- Health and Safety and Data Protection legislation
- Process payments and administer licensing fees where applicable.
- Contribute to service improvements and support the development of policies and procedures.
- Respond to customer enquiries by telephone, email and face-to-face, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
