Full time hours on a temporary basis
- Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Service Management
- Provide operational leadership and day-to-day management of the Policy Team.
- Oversee workload prioritisation, resource planning and service delivery.
- Support, motivate and develop team members through performance management and personal development planning.
- Ensure service objectives, deadlines and performance targets are achieved.
- Promote staff wellbeing and effective team working during periods of organisational change.
Corporate Policy & Strategy
- Lead the development, implementation and review of corporate policies and priorities.
- Support the delivery of organisational change and reorganisation programmes.
- Promote innovation and cultural change across the organisation.
- Oversee research, data analysis and evidence gathering to inform policy development.
- Monitor national and regional policy developments and provide briefings to senior management and elected members.
Performance Management
- Oversee corporate performance monitoring arrangements.
- Ensure the effective collection, analysis and reporting of performance information.
- Prepare and present quarterly performance reports to senior leadership teams and member forums.
- Identify risks, trends and opportunities to improve organisational performance.
Overview & Scrutiny Support
- Act as lead manager for Overview and Scrutiny.
- Ensure effective policy and administrative support is provided to scrutiny committees and related working groups.
- Support elected members in reviewing policies and organisational performance.
- Prepare reports, briefings and information for committee meetings.
Partnerships & Community Development
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
- Oversee community partnership initiatives and collaborative projects.
- Support engagement with voluntary, community and faith sector organisations.
- Manage funding programmes and associated monitoring arrangements.
- Oversee community safety partnership activities, including contract management responsibilities.
Learning & Development
- Oversee learning and development activities across the service.
- Support delivery of organisational development programmes.
- Ensure effective administration of apprenticeships, work experience opportunities and training initiatives.
- Support workforce development planning and organisational learning objectives.
Financial & Project Management
- Monitor budgets and expenditure within the service area.
- Ensure resources are managed efficiently and effectively.
- Support programme and project management activities.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of strategic organisational initiatives.
