Welfare support officer 458314 Full Time Temporary

Full time hours on a temporary basis.

We administer discretionary Local Welfare funding that residents can apply to if they are in financial hardship. You may also be required to make decisions on applications for support from the Homeless Prevention Fund. These residents may be in very difficult circumstances and as a result may require strong but sensitive handling. Decisions must be transparently fair and in accordance with governing policy. The successful candidates will be responsible for showing that all facts have been gathered and appropriately used in reaching a decision.

Main duties would include the following: • Taking initial applications over the telephone • Looking at applications (making contact with customers as necessary and requesting the necessary information or evidence to support their applications). • Signposting customers to wider support from a variety of services and organisations. • Any other duties as may be required.
