This is working full time hours on a temporary basis
To carry out statutory review functions of the Housing Needs Team. To undertake complex inquiries to inform the decision making process and to carry out statutory reviews under S164, 164A (9) S202 of the Housing Act 1996, (as amended). To make delegated decisions on behalf of the client as to the legal duties owed to applicants who apply as homeless, and to decide on the suitability of accommodation offered to applicants under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended)
To consider and decide on behalf of the Client any requests from customers and their legal representatives for the provision of accommodation pending the outcome of any review or appeal decisions, in line with legislation and current case law.
Under the direction of the Senior Reviews Officer, to scrutinise the original decision making process and identify any training needs that might arise, and to participate in the delivery of any in -service training
To respond to legal challenges against review decisions and any litigation arising from such decisions. To assist the legal department, including attending court if necessary, to defend any appeal arising from the review decision, at County Court, Court of Appeal or Supreme Court
To contribute to policy and procedural development of all matters relating to the statutory homeless obligations and the Housing register.
To provide guidance and updates on homelessness and associated legislation, codes of guidance, case law and policy as required within Housing Services
To make enquiries into possible fraudulent applications received by the housing assessment team and refer to the Corporate Anti Fraud Team those that require further investigation.
