Gypsy and Traveller Liaison Officer Full Time Temporary

Gypsy and Traveller Liaison Officer needed in Ellesmere Port paying £12.95 per hr PAYE Ref: 5178759

This role is working full time hours on a temporary basis

Responsibilities:

• Assist the senior GTLO in the day to day management of sites.
• Assist with the promotion and monitoring of policies designed to ensure that the authority complies with all legislation to site management, site development and service delivery, taking into account the views of Gypsies and Travellers and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and promotion of policies designed to counter discrimination and prejudice faced by the Gypsy and Traveller community.
• Deal with all unauthorised encampments, as and when required, in line with policy, including:

1. Completion of welfare checks
2. Liaison with other agencies e.g. police, health, education, housing and Gypsy & Traveller groups
3. Co-ordination of service provision at the encampment including refuse collection, portable toilets and collection of charges for these services and administrating on a budget 
4. Responding to enquiries from members of the public, businesses, elected Members and senior managers.
5. Collate information and report to senior managers in order to inform the decision on eviction or toleration
6. Attendance at court as required
7. Liaison with partners when Gypsies and Travellers are potentially homeless
