Governor Advisory Officer Contract Part Time

Governor Advisory Officer based in Barry and the rate is £10.21 per hr

This role will involve:

• Advise schools and Governing Bodies in respect of all school governance (constitutional and procedural), helping them to implement their relevant statutory legal obligations, the prevailing local and national policies, and to learn from sector best practice.
• Ensure Governing Bodies have current and appropriate signed Instruments of Governance and are complying with their terms accordingly. Advise on the process for reconstitution of a governing body and updating of the Instrument of Governance.
• Advising governors and appointing bodies of any changes in membership and expiry of the terms of office of governors before their term expires in order for elections or appointments to be organised in a timely manner;
• Ensuring that new governors are provided with the necessary induction information to carry out their role effectively;
• Advising on eligibility, quorums, election procedures and disqualification regulations; and maintaining the centrally held records are kept up to date. Attending and recording minutes of governing body meetings, indicating who is responsible for any agreed action;
• Advise on the statutory establishment, compositions/memberships and review of committees (including terms of reference for those committees)

Ideally candidates will have:

• NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline
• IT qualification or experience
