Assistant director Contract Full Time

Assistant director Based in Chelmsford and the salary is £400.00 per day PAYE

This role will involve:

Acting as key senior officer to influence and shape the skills system in Essex including:

• Developing stronger relationships with key partners, including local businesses and anchor organisations, further education providers, school sixth forms, universities etc;
• Working with partners to develop a strategic overview of future skills demand in Essex and a plan for securing appropriate skills provision;
• Preparing a plan to deliver a pipeline of skills for growth sectors (as being identified by Sector Development Strategy and eg. the care sector);
• Focusing particularly the opportunities for growth in the green economy and coordinating proposals to drive forward retrofit of homes and other buildings to reduce carbon emissions and provide jobs for local people;
• As part of the new Lifelong Learning focus, work with Education colleagues to better connect key employers to their local schools to raise aspirations and understanding of careers options;
• Overseeing existing skills activity including directly-commissioned provision and shaping the work commissioned by others (eg. SELEP) to ensure it meets the needs of Essex residents and businesses;
• Engaging DWP and their providers to ensure their employability support is providing effective support for Essex residents and business, eg. Kickstart and Restart programmes.
